Toulouse Motel

It was a complete mess, and I wouldn’t recommend it. We’d heard a bad report before, but went anyway because it worked logistically for that night. Big mistake. We arrived around 4 am, but nobody told us that this was too late to count as an overnight stay. After 7 am, they started charging extra hours, and we had no idea. When I called to ask for breakfast, I was told we weren’t entitled to it because our booking didn’t count as an overnight stay. There’s no posted cutoff time anywhere, so were we supposed to guess? When I asked why no one had explained this, the attendant said we could have lunch. I said I wasn’t staying that long, and only then did she offer to swap lunch for breakfast. Why not offer that when I first asked? We’d already paid extra hours without knowing, thinking we were still within the overnight stay. Then they charged us for another full hour because we were 10 minutes over. We were waiting for the bill, and that was exactly how long it took to arrive. Could I have complained? Yes, but by then I just wanted to pay and leave. The room had no number to call reception, so you had to guess. There was also no privacy when paying. The woman bringing the bill leaned over the little counter and watched while I checked it. At other motels I’ve stayed in, they leave the bill, ring the bell, and wait discreetly for you to check it before taking payment. That didn’t happen here. The soundproofing was awful. While I tried to rest, I could hear staff talking and music playing as if it were right in our garage. When we left, they wouldn’t let our Uber drive in. It was raining, so we had to go out to reception to get it. Then we were left waiting there for at least five minutes while they checked the room before opening the gate. We could’ve missed the Uber, too.
