Charitas Inn

The nearest beach isn't suitable for swimming, so getting to the other beaches means spending more on transport. For the price, that's frustrating, even knowing it's a small inn. The hygiene was very poor. There were cobwebs, a bad smell, and a filthy bathroom. Breakfast was very weak too, with few choices, and everything seemed old and wilted. It was much worse than I expected. There were lots of cats and a really strong odor. As someone with allergies, I wish I'd known that beforehand.

We arrived around 1:30 p.m. and were welcomed by Sérgio, the owner. The room had some dirty corners, with cobwebs and spiders on the ceiling. On the other hand, the owners made us feel completely at ease, as if the place were ours. Breakfast was lovingly prepared and nicely laid out.

Sérgio and his wife made my son and me feel at home. They promptly helped with what we needed, including arranging breakfast for 6 a.m. when we had to leave early for an appointment. We're grateful for the whole stay!

On May 21, 2019, my daughter was in hospital in Niterói, and my wife was with her. I needed somewhere to sleep, so I called the hotel and explained that I'd arrive between 9 and 10 p.m. The person who answered made a reservation, and nothing was said about a 10 p.m. cutoff. After my daughter came out of surgery and I saw she was all right, I headed to the hotel. At 10:06 p.m. I got a WhatsApp message saying my reservation had been canceled because they only served guests until 10. At 10:08 I sent an audio message saying I was on my way and that nobody had told me about the cutoff. It was seen, but I got no reply, and then the person blocked me. I ended up spending another hour and a half trying to find a different hotel. I could call this irresponsible, cold, rude, or all of the above. I'll complain on Facebook, Instagram, and anywhere else I can think of. It may not change anything, but I found it incredibly disrespectful.
