Hotel Montanas

Great!

The insects were what finally made us leave, but there were serious problems throughout the room. We found large, thick spiders on the bed and pillows, plus a beetle inside. I kept thinking about what might have happened if one had bitten me during the night, and whether the hotel would cover any harm. That kind of risk should never cross your mind in a hotel. Even camping, I never had anything like that inside my tent. The night cost R$ 350,00. The room smelled intensely of mold, and damp and mold spots were clearly visible on the walls. The place felt neglected, and the dirt under the bed was part of a general lack of care. The wooden balcony was visibly rotten and loose, and felt dangerously unstable, especially if a child were nearby. Its door had no key and would not lock, so I wedged a chair against it for what little security that offered while our belongings were in the room. I never felt safe there. Luckily, I had only booked one night. We packed up at daybreak and left right away without even having breakfast because we did not want to stay any longer. I felt uncomfortable, unsafe, and sorry I had chosen the place. When I told the receptionist what had happened, he said, “everything was clean.” I wanted to go back to the room and show him the dirt, mold, insects, and loose balcony, but I just wanted to get out and put the experience behind me. That response, in the face of such obvious problems, was deeply frustrating. I felt cheated, disrespected, and financially and emotionally hurt. The price bears no relation to what the hotel provides. This is a matter of safety, hygiene, health, and respect for customers, not just unmet expectations. I left disappointed and insecure, and the establishment clearly is not fit to host guests in its current condition. I would not recommend staying here. Everything I described is in the photos. Several other comments here also mention the same issues and bugs in the rooms. I do not need to prove what I said, the reviews here speak for themselves.

The breakfast was wonderful, fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The hotel itself was spotless, organized, and smelled lovely, with care visible in every corner. I felt warmly welcomed from the moment I arrived, and the team’s thoughtful attention to every guest really stood out. Those lovely days made Nova Friburgo even more special. The view was amazing, and the bed was comfortable and smelled fresh. On cold mornings, we could warm up by the fireplace, which made the stay feel especially memorable. Breakfast was varied and generous, including freshly squeezed orange juice. My husband and I had an unforgettable weekend here. The hosts welcomed us warmly, and the hotel was clean and pleasant, just as it looked in the photos. We’re grateful for their kindness and care, and we’ll definitely be back.
