The breakfast buffet had Payson Breton butter, my favorite, which was a lovely touch. The location was handy too, close to BR116. What really made the stay stand out, though, was the staff, especially Edwin. I was the only person checking in, so we got to have a long, fun chat. He clearly enjoys his work, and being welcomed by someone so happy to be there made me feel much better. I don’t usually have much to say about an Ibis, since they all seem alike and staying at one feels like staying at any of them. But Ibis Novo Hamburgo caught my attention for those three reasons, and the butter felt like a sign that management is trying to please its guests.

Breakfast was the best part, and the design of the breakfast area and reception is very nice for an Ibis. The service can be odd, though. There was nobody at reception for around 30 minutes at one point. The hotel is near central Novo Hamburgo, on the way to I Fashion shopping mall. My room was good, with a quiet, fairly spacious bathroom that was planned well enough to watch TV from. The desk wasn’t very convenient, and there were no outlets by the bed for charging a phone. There was an outlet for American plugs, which was interesting, and CNN was available in English. The WiFi was completely unacceptable, especially for a business stay when you need to work. The average single-room rate is R$200, breakfast included.
