Pousada Oásis

I’ve stayed at this inn regularly since 2018, but something has changed. The breakfast used to be tasty, and now it’s simpler than what I’d make at home. The shower and air conditioning seem to have had no maintenance, and the mattresses and old TVs are noisy, with the TVs making a crackling sound. It feels like the place has been forgotten and left behind. It urgently needs some care and attention. The price is also 30% higher than other inns and accommodations in town. I felt right at home at Pousada Oasis. It’s a lovely rustic place, just right for someone like me who likes things simple but pleasant. Josias and his wife are really nice and treated us very well. Breakfast was good, with enough to eat and nice quality. Our double room was small, but cozy, and the room and kitchen were spotless.

We booked three nights and stayed with my family in a room downstairs. When we came back to sleep on the second night, we found a scorpion on the wall by the head of the double bed. The owner killed it when we called him and said it might have got in through a hole in the bathroom drain or the gap under the door. There was nothing to stop it or another insect from entering. He offered us another room next door, but it seemed to have similar conditions, so I decided it was safer for my family to leave and find another hotel. What upset me was that he refused to refund the unused nights, saying that in his view the problem had been solved and that I was the one who rejected the conditions he offered. I’m going to seek my rights and file a formal complaint with the pest control department in the municipality of Olímpia so they can take the necessary steps.

I stayed with my family from July 14 to 21, 2013. The inn is simple but cozy, and breakfast was basic with plenty to eat. The staff were attentive, and the owner, Mr. Josias, was very helpful and attentive. I recommend it to anyone going to Olímpia.
