Hotel Colonial

The corridors and both the room and bathroom smelled moldy, and the bathroom still had mess left by other guests. Breakfast was really poor: stale bread and cake, with no juice or fruit options. Parking was also awful. For such limited facilities, the nightly rate is way too high. I've stayed at another hotel nearby with better rooms, a wider breakfast selection including fruit, juices and cakes, no mold, and a lower price. If these issues were fixed, this place would have a better reputation in town.

The only real drawback for me was access: rooms start on the first floor, and there’s no elevator or ramp, just stairs. Otherwise, it was a very good stay. The rooms are simple but clean and tidy, there’s parking, and the staff are very polite. It’s a cozy place for anyone needing to spend a night in Ouro Branco, and I’d definitely stay here again.

The rooms were clean, the prices were good, and the simple breakfast fit the hotel's basic offer. I would have given five stars, but my fully paid Booking reservation, made online the day before, wasn't in the hotel's system when I arrived after a day of travel. The receptionist insisted I had to pay again at check-in. Luckily, I had printed all my receipts, and that got me into the room. Later, after I'd gone to bed, she called me back to reception and showed me a WhatsApp conversation with the person responsible for Booking, saying they weren't at the office during the transaction and I would have to pay at check-in after all. I refused again. After that, everything went fine until I left.

The breakfast is the main reason for four stars. There wasn't much choice, just coffee, milk, two kinds of fruit, bread, cheese and ham. Still, for the price, it’s a very good option. The rooms are large and clean, though simple and without a minibar. Service was excellent, and there’s Wi-Fi and a water dispenser in the hallways.
