Casa Figueira da Foz

The location is good and the accommodation is well kept. The bed wasn’t comfortable, though it didn’t leave me with any aches. Breakfast is served in a spot some distance away, where you also pick up the keys. There was plenty to choose from and the portions were generous. One morning we found a cockroach in the bathroom. The drain is quite large, so they can get through easily. The place is tidy, but my experience with the owner, or whoever handles things there, soured the stay. They seem proud and unwilling to admit when they’re wrong, and like to label people in replies to reviews. On Booking, I mentioned something that could be improved even though I’d given a very good rating. The response said that I, “like most of the Brazilian population, don’t have the habit of reading.” This person doesn’t know me at all and had only seen my comment, yet chose to label me and act superior. After that reply, I decided I wouldn’t stay there again or recommend it to the several friends who’d asked me where to stay in Ouro Preto. In general I might have returned, but dealing with the owner or employee’s attitude took away any desire to.
