Hostel Imperial

The owner is friendly, but that doesn’t change how poor the place was. I booked five nights and was asked to pay half in advance. I was traveling alone, and when I arrived, the owner’s elderly parents greeted me warmly, but they were only filling in. I found out there were no other guests and I’d be alone in the big house, without a staff member responsible for the place. The outdoor area was clean, but the bed was uncomfortable and the sheets smelled bad. It was clearly not operating as a hostel. If it had been, the bedroom window faced a laundry area, so noise would have been an issue anyway. There was also a lot of noise from nearby spaces. I left the next day and lost the money I’d paid in advance for a place I thought would be a hostel. There are much better places in Ouro Preto. Don’t pay in advance!
