Fantastic.

I stayed in Room 10 and was welcomed very warmly on arrival. The positives were breakfast, parking, and the reception staff. But the small minibar was dirty and rusty, and the mattress and bed base need replacing, they’re in no condition to use. The room smelled strongly of mold, and one window wouldn’t open, so there was no ventilation. The windows faced the street, opposite a student residence where there was a party on Saturday and Sunday until the early hours. It was impossible to rest, and I couldn’t wait to leave. The location is hard to beat: walk 200 meters uphill and you're at Praça Tiradentes, or go 100 meters to the Museus de Aleijadinho. There's parking too. I left my car from Friday to Sunday and explored the area on foot. The receptionists were friendly and helpful, which mattered a lot to me since service is the strongest part of a place, even more than the room. My experience was average, though. The bathroom in our room was spacious, but the shower curtain alone doesn't keep water from spreading across the floor. The bathroom has a substantial setup, yet the curtain makes it feel impractical. It would also help to explain housekeeping rules more clearly, including when towels and floor cloths are changed. The bathroom needs fresh ones regularly. Our room, number 6, faced three bars, so it was noisy.

The staff were great, but the owner was awful. We stayed only one night and won't return. There were six of us, so we rented two rooms. The tub in my room was the reason we chose it, since my husband loves baths, but it didn't work properly. We had to fill it with shower water, which quickly went cold, and it leaked all over the bathroom floor. It looked as if the room might flood, and the water dripped downstairs into what seemed to be a kitchen. We asked the man on duty that night to dry the floor because the bathroom wasn't usable as it was. When we were leaving the next day, the owner checked the room and came over very upset about a bath towel on the floor. My husband had put it there to catch the tub leak while showering, and it ended up looking like a dirty floor rag. She wanted to charge 120,00 for a towel that was already badly stained and in poor condition. I asked my husband if he'd complained about the bathroom, and he hadn't. I told her we should call it even, but she wouldn't accept that. I ended up filming and threatening to call the police and PROCON. After that she backed down, asked us to forget it, and apologized. It was very expensive for what we got, and not worth the price. I can't recommend it.
