Guarda Beach House - Hostel

Monica was the BEST. I was the only guest, and we had a great time together!

The owner had a poor attitude. I don’t recommend staying there.

The pousada has a lovely garden, a pool, and a bar that’s open at night. The owner is really friendly, and PAC, the young man working there, was wonderful, polite, and helpful. It’s well located near the center and beaches. There are hammocks on the balcony, plus a large living room and a space to socialize. They clean daily and leave their WhatsApp available, showing they’re ready to help.

We were six friends and me staying in the pousada’s “rustic little house.” On the second day, we asked where breakfast was, and Monica, the owner, asked whether our package included it. It did, but she kept doubting us until we showed her the booking messages. I think she then accepted that she had offered breakfast with our reservation. That was the start of a stay full of unnecessary stress, instead of the peaceful, magical time we’d expected in Guarda. We had two days of nonstop rain, including one very heavy day, and the house developed about seven leaks. One was right above a couple’s bed. We understand the rain was intense, but a place shouldn’t fill with leaks like that. We also ran out of toilet paper. When we told them, they gave us ONE ROLL for seven people, which felt humiliating. The house’s suite had problems too. The air conditioning wouldn’t cool, and the owner kept putting us off, saying she’d look into it. We ended up sleeping in the heat. The shower only had three trickles of water, so we had to use the middle bathroom instead. I would have posted a video of the leaks, but only photos are allowed.
