The island is gorgeous, and the staff were kind and polite. Gabriel, Alexandre, Miguel, Michele, all the women, and everyone else were lovely. Mr Renato, who runs the island concession, is a sweetheart too. But I got the impression he’d lost some enthusiasm, which I can understand if the financial return isn’t that good. Still, guests don’t expect the rooms to be in such poor repair: air conditioning failed in several, and during heavy rain water came into a number of rooms. Mr Mauro was very polite and helpful, but seemed quite lost with the meals, and our dishes took a long time to arrive. We also had a cockroach infestation one day. We rented the whole island for 60 people, so perhaps they weren’t ready for a group that size, and I understand it can’t be easy. We heard the island concession was for sale and nearly sold. I truly hope the new buyer takes good care of it, because the place is magnificent. Even with all the problems, I still loved everything.
