Pousada Chalés de Lagoinha

We spent three nights there, and not once were the beds made or the bathroom cleaned. One morning we went out, and when we came back the owners were sitting on the sidewalk chatting. We asked about room service; they looked annoyed and said they'd ask someone to go in. Nothing had been done by the time we returned that night. They barely paid attention to what we asked for, even though those things were listed on booking. The room we ended up in was awful and filthy, with a grimy bathroom and disgusting black grout. Instead of a bath mat, there was a filthy cleaning rag to step on. The wooden door/window facing outside was peeling and crawling with little bugs, kind of like tiny cockroaches. When we asked them to clean it or spray something to kill them, they brushed us off and said it was just the heat. From the start, the service was terrible. They didn't properly help us with the room. We'd asked for an upstairs room to avoid street noise, but it wasn't ready when we arrived. I couldn't stomach the breakfast. On the first day I only had coffee with milk, and after that I didn't touch anything. Cats wandered around the tables. On the last day my husband forced himself to eat before driving, then got a bad infection and had stomach problems for days. The posts calling this a great place must be paid for, because everything about our stay was awful. I paid a lot because they charged a fixed rate for Carnival. I was only passing through town on my way to canoa quebrada. We didn't switch places because we'd already paid so much, but I'd have paid ten times more to stay somewhere else. There are other inns and small hotels in town that seem much better. This was the only one that came up on booking when we searched, but there are more options once you get there. Don't stay here.

I've stayed several times and it never disappoints. The inn is excellent, the beds are soft, the air conditioning is great, breakfast is very good, and I was welcomed warmly.

A lovely, cozy place with a great family atmosphere. The pool was very clean, and the rooms were tidy. There are flowers everywhere, so it's also a wonderful place for photos. The service really stood out.
