EcoLodge Paraty

I stayed for seven days, and the pousada felt abandoned. The rooms were very hot, the kitchen was dirty, had no microwave, and lacked basic utensils. The power went out, and the road there is very winding. The entrance parking area is small, and there are lots of insects because it’s close to the waterfall, which wasn’t appealing either. The booking was advertised with breakfast included, but close to the date they said it would cost extra. Before the stay, communication was nonexistent, and nobody answered the contact details they provided.

Everything was as advertised, simple and very clean, and the place was surprisingly lovely. Thalia understood that we were late after an absurd traffic jam from Saco da Ribeira until past Praia Grande in Ubatuba. A trip that should have taken two hours took us five and a half. She welcomed us and showed us to our room. Check the photos to see how spectacular it is if you want quiet away from everyday life and the sound of rushing water. The pousada doesn’t offer a swimming pool, even though there’s a pool-like spot there. It’s fed by running water from some spring, so keeping it clean is difficult. Still, you can try getting into the cold water, which looks clean despite its appearance.

This pousada is rustic and tucked away in the woods, but my room needed better care. The toilet was leaking, the TV didn’t work, and the mattress, pillow, sheets, and bedding were all poor quality. I had rainy weather, and the mold smell was awful. Even in a place out in the woods, I think it could be cleaner and better equipped.

A good spot if you want peace and a rest, surrounded by greenery with the sound of a waterfall and nature. There aren’t any services, since it’s 13 km from Paraty and out in the forest. The GPS doesn’t give the exact location, so pay attention to the route.
