Hostel Raio de Fogo

I understood the bad reviews as soon as I got to know the place. The woman is really rude to people. The idea was to work and live at the pousada, haha. Guess what they offered? On days when the house was full, I’d have to sleep in the car. Ugh.

The owner was completely intrusive with the guests, and there was even some kind of fight between her and a guest. The power also went out every day. My husband, our two small children, and I had a terrible stay and left before our scheduled departure. Men and women were walking near the room where our kids were staying and using the same bathroom. A horrible experience.

We were welcomed so warmly, even though we asked to book at the last minute. I stayed at the hostel in November 2020, and it was a really good stay. The place was clean, breakfast was very good, and there was a garage, which is hard to find. I recommend it!

There’s just one mirror in the whole house, in the kitchen, so you’d be putting in your contact lenses while people eat breakfast. The smell of mold is unbearable, and if it rains, you won’t sleep. There are no outlets in the rooms, bathrooms, or kitchen, just two in the living room, so you have to wait for someone else to finish charging their phone. Worst hostel I’ve ever seen.
