The breakfast was very basic with few choices, and on my last day they didn’t even have scrambled eggs. They also served expired yogurt, which showed a complete lack of care for guests. The room I got wasn’t the one I’d booked and was completely different from the listing. It smelled terribly of mold, the mattress was very uncomfortable, and the bed creaked loudly whenever I moved. The minibar was rusty, the toilet seat was broken, and the fan didn’t work. They said they’d fix it later, but nothing was done during my stay. The drive in was a bad first impression too: a dirt road full of holes. At first the welcome was friendly and gave me a good impression, but that didn’t last. By the end, the service felt dismissive.

The inn is around 35 minutes from the Historic Center of Paraty. We had a car and the drive was easy, so the distance didn’t bother us. The road is unlit in places at night, but that isn’t the inn’s responsibility and it didn’t affect our stay. There’s also a dirt street leading to it, but that caused no trouble either. It rained heavily overnight, yet by morning there was no mud and we drove out easily. Since the place is surrounded by greenery, bring insect repellent because mosquitoes can show up. We had a wonderful time at Pousada Cantinho do Sossego. My husband and I loved the peace and quiet, just what we needed. Everything was spotless, the room was cozy, and breakfast was delicious and made with care. Everyone was so kind and attentive that we felt at home. Paraty woke up to beautiful sunshine on our departure day, and we were already wishing we could return. At checkout, a very friendly young man whose name I forgot gave us meringues for the trip. A small, thoughtful gesture that made the goodbye memorable. Thank you from the heart for everything. May God bless everyone who makes this place special. I recommend it without hesitation.
