The hotel and food were great, but a couple of things really got in the way. We hadn't been told that a school group would be there during our dates. Hundreds of children took over the hotel, held pool parties during the day, and played loud music. They weren't trouble themselves, and it was great for them, but we were paying to use the pool and bar and couldn't enjoy either. The night staff were frustrating and not very helpful too. Our friends had a cat screaming on the roof, and it took a lot of persuasion before staff went to check. Once they heard how loud it was, they chased it into the room. Our friends were offered another room, had to leave by 10, then were moved again, three rooms in all. One night the gates were shut, and staff were very annoyed when we rang the bell to get back in around 11 pm. We couldn't stay in the hotel because of the kids.

The team at reception arranged jeep and boat trips for us, and the staff and hotel were lovely. Great pool and fitness room, too. It's only a short stroll to the old town.

A really charming, welcoming hotel. The gardens and pool area are lovely places to unwind, and the historic town is within walking distance. Staff were friendly, the rooms clean, the linens crisp, and breakfast excellent. I loved staying here and would definitely recommend it.

For this area, it's a good, clean hotel and the people are nice. Just don't expect American hotel standards. The breakfast is underwhelming and needs work, as do the room amenities.

The location is great, about a ten-minute walk from the historic center, and the pool is lovely. Some rooms have been updated. The real mess is that the pousada doesn't own the restaurant on site, so the different parties don't seem to know what each other is doing.
