The breakfast buffet was excellent, with plenty of fruit and a menu you could order from. The hotel is very close to the main square, but on a quiet street. There are lots of spots to sit, including by the nice pool and its bar. The rooms are rustic, with a comfortable bed. Wi-Fi was very fast, the shower was good, and everything was very clean. There was also a safe, a fridge, and a tiny backyard area, about 1 square meter, for smokers. It was worth every penny. A clothes stand or even a simple chair to put clothes on at night would be a useful addition.

The photos don't do the rooms and shared spaces justice. Everyone at reception and in housekeeping was especially friendly and welcoming, and they made us feel special for our anniversary. A wonderful hotel that deserves more stars. I'd book here again.

The staff made a big difference for us. When we ran into trouble with our rental car, Alessandra helped sort things out and arrange transfers to the places we needed to go. Everyone there was warm and ready to help. The Pousada de Ouro is in a lovely group of traditional houses, kept very clean and thoughtfully equipped. I’d happily stay there again and recommend it.
