Pousada Recanto Tangará

We booked a night at Recanto Tangará because we needed to extend our stay. We chose a simple room just to sleep, and unfortunately it was a letdown. We knew the inn was basic and were fine with that, but the mattress was foam and badly sagging, so we slept very poorly. After dinner, we noticed the electronic gate lock didn’t work properly. It wouldn’t open when we entered the code, yet you could just push the door and get in, which felt extremely unsafe. There were also lots of ants in the room, especially in the bathroom, even though we hadn’t brought any food. There’s an indoor parking area that fits only three cars, plus an outdoor lot on dirt ground. After heavy rain it was muddy and difficult to walk through. Breakfast was basic too, with more unpleasant surprises: soggy French bread, dried-out old cheese, cold couscous that seemed like farofa, and cashew juice that didn’t seem natural, more like ready-made concentrate. Being a simple place should still mean taking care of basic infrastructure, and that wasn’t what we found. We don’t recommend it.

The reception staff were great. I usually research before booking, and although Tangará had some very negative reviews, I decided to trust the administrator’s replies. After staying there, I found that many of those reviews seemed accurate. Some things need attention from management. The mattress in my assigned room had a dip, so reception moved me to another room. The sheets were polyester, not cotton, and the towels were small, not the usual size for accommodation. The shower stall in the new room was dirty, though reception cleaned it right away. Instead of a TV, there was a projector, and you couldn’t see anything with the lights on or during the day. At breakfast, we missed several items: cakes, papaya, bananas, apples, jam, white cheese, and water.

The breakfast was a highlight, everything was made with so much care, and the women serving it were kind and attentive. The inn itself felt peaceful, welcoming, and very family-like. Our room was clean and tidy, and having air conditioning made a real difference. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.

The rooms and shared areas were exceptionally clean. Breakfast had too few choices and was a little disappointing. There’s a construction site next door, so trucks make noise early in the morning.
