The shared kitchen was handy, and it stayed clean. We also made good use of the filtered water there. The property has character, with a comfortable, clean bedroom and excellent facilities throughout. The receptionist who checked us in was really friendly and helpful, though there was no information on local tours. Some of the cleaning staff seemed unfriendly and indifferent toward us. We’re foreign tourists, and they were much warmer with local guests.

After a bad experience somewhere else in Paraty, we were so relieved we’d booked Pousada Roma. The rooms were perfect, with air conditioning and warm showers, and we felt safe and secure in the lovely courtyard. I’d recommend it 100%.

Everyone I met was friendly, which made the stay feel personal and welcoming. The common areas were kept impressively clean. My room was spotless, the bed was cozy, and the hot shower felt great after a long day. I also loved the wooden shutters on the windows. They gave the room a charming, rustic feel.

The place was very basic, with poor security because of the windows and flimsy door. There was no breakfast, and the bed and mattress were really bad. I’d booked two nights but left after one. They didn’t understand that I wanted a refund for the second night. Even though I’d booked through Expedia and provided my card details, they asked for cash on arrival. Very confusing, and I don’t recommend it.

Nice and homey, with friendly people and a clean, comfortable place. The only thing is, nobody knows English!
