Pousada Rosa Café

We brought our pet and had no trouble at all. The inn is cozy and well located, just a five-minute drive from the historic center. The service was impeccable, and our room was clean, with a good bed and a nice hot shower. D. Sônia’s treats made breakfast wonderfully varied. I highly recommend staying here!

The room cleaning only happens sporadically, and the shower barely trickles. They say there’s a pool, but when you get there, it’s just plants. I didn’t enjoy the stay and won’t be back or recommend it. I only found out about Pousada Don Juan, the amazing inn next to Rosa Café, after arriving in Paraty.

I had a bad stay and wouldn’t recommend coming back. The shower was weak and never got properly hot. Breakfast was simple, and there weren’t scrambled eggs ready in a warming tray, so we had to keep asking for them one at a time. There’s no night watch or anyone at reception from 8 p.m. until the following day. They charge R$35,00 per night for a pet but don’t provide any pet service or space. If they charge a fee, they should offer something for it. They also don’t list all the pet rules and charges on the website, only springing them on you when you arrive.

The room was good and so was breakfast, but I wouldn’t call it pet friendly. You can’t leave pets alone in the room. If you do, staff come in anyway to “clean,” but all they actually do is turn off the air conditioning, leaving the room shut up and hot. The reception also recommended one of the worst schooner tour companies around. I wouldn’t return.
