Pousada Barão do Javary

There’s barely any soundproofing in the rooms. You can hear conversations inside other rooms and everything happening outside. There’s no privacy either, since people can see right into your room if you open the window. So even if you want some air or to look at the nature outside, you end up stuck with the window shut. The breakfast is very basic. This is a very, very simple inn.

The shared fridge outside room 3 got noisy at times, with people coming by to grab things even around 10:30 at night. That was tough with our five-month-old baby. The room didn’t have its own minibar. The inn is simple, but reception was very good, and there’s a games area with foosball, pool, table tennis, and arcade games. Breakfast is basic but does the job, and there’s a poolside bar selling the inn’s beer and soft drinks. It’s close to Lago Javary, though the roadworks around town made getting around a bit difficult. Good value for the money.

The pool itself is well looked after, but the area around it isn’t. The shared spaces also need work, with peeling paint and signs of damp in places. The rooms look as if they were renovated recently, though the materials seem poor quality. The inn urgently needs renovations.

It’s very well located, close to downtown and practically beside the lake, with a good breakfast and a very nice structure. What bothered me was the noise. The owners seem to live there and sometimes have parties, which cut into the peace I’d gone there to enjoy. There’s no reception, which felt a little strange, but it wasn’t a big deal.
