M. Tower Hotel

The service and care were excellent. The location is great, away from Porto's busiest and most notorious area.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, and the rooms are really apartments where you could live comfortably. It's not a bad place, and it has what you need for a pleasant stay. The rooms do seem a little neglected, and the hotel feels dated. Breakfast also wasn't very good. I'd still recommend it and come back, keeping in mind that there aren't as many choices around here as in other places.

We arrived in Pelotas in the early hours of the morning. At first, we were welcomed well: the man who helped us charged us for our night and gave us the key. We woke up, had breakfast, and came down with all our backpacks ready at 12, when we thought checkout was. The receptionist on duty asked if we were leaving already and said checkout was on the 9th. I asked, "Isn't it now?" and she confirmed that it wasn't, it was on the 9th. My fiancée and I decided to stay until the next day, then went upstairs. At 2 p.m. we came down to get lunch, and the receptionist, whom they called Sol because they wouldn't tell us her name, said we'd be charged for another night's stay because of their mistake. We had 12 more hours of travel ahead, and I said it wasn't fair to charge us when the error wasn't ours, and that I wouldn't pay. We went out for lunch, and while we were eating they called and messaged us, really disrupting our meal. They told us to come back and speak to the person in charge of the hotel. He was even ruder than the first receptionist. He accused us of taking advantage of the situation to get a free night and suggested we didn't understand hotel stays. He also claimed they had given us two extra hours, even though we never asked for that. In the end, he told us to leave, and a doorman followed us to the room while we collected our things. They made a mistake and then treated us like we were trying to get something out of them. I won't ever return and can't recommend the place. I wish I could give it negative stars. I feel bad for the first man who helped us, though. He was very friendly and deserves a better place to work.

They were extremely rude to us. One staff member kept staring at me and nearly came at me, while the whole team watched us as if we were vandals. First they said we could pay at checkout, then the “doctor” refused.
