Pelotas Bier Hostel

After a long day riding, we were exhausted. We got into the room, showered, and went straight to sleep. During the night there was a rancid smell. My wife found the bathroom bin packed with used toilet paper, so we thought that was causing it and left the fan running all night. In the morning, she noticed stains beneath my pillow and told our host Leo the sheets were dirty. He insisted they were clean. I asked Leo to come look for himself. Once he saw the stains, he accused me of spilling something on the sheets, then got upset with us. The stains were completely dry, and spilling something wasn't even a possibility. I strongly recommend staying somewhere else.

The hosts were awesome, and Pelotas is a great place to stay.

The place was spotless and tidy, and the artwork and paintings throughout the lovely facilities are a treat if you enjoy art. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with its own bathroom, and the location was excellent. We only stayed one night while traveling a long way and then continuing on, but the excellent service started as soon as we arrived. Breakfast was a nice extra. I'd come back without hesitation.

I liked the decor and the staff were polite, but I left a little frustrated. My expectations were higher, though maybe I'm just not used to how hostels work. I missed a few basics, like soap in the bathroom, and the toilet paper was pretty ordinary. The breakfast could be better too.
