We were put in a damp room that smelled of mold, and the air conditioning didn’t work. The bed linens were dirty and stained. When we asked about switching rooms, reception was very rude and said there was no option because it was Carnival. We explained all the problems, but they answered, “the bed linen was changed recently,” “the air was working,” and “the room doesn’t smell of mold.” Worst of all, they said, “you paid cheap anyway, why are you complaining?” Nobody inspected the room or checked the air conditioning, and they didn’t change the sheets or do anything. There are also cats and lots of fur around the inn, which could bother people who dislike cats or have allergies. We didn’t feel able to stay, so we lost our money, but we weren’t going to put up with that disrespect and lack of responsibility from the inn’s team, who I believe are the owners. I absolutely don’t recommend it.

It’s in a great spot, close to a market, ice cream shop, pizzeria and bakery, and very close to Beto Carreiro. The place was clean and felt safe, and the service was great. Everyone was helpful, especially the very friendly woman serving breakfast.

We stayed at Guest house Mel e Mar for four days and everything was wonderful, with great value for money. It’s close to Beto carreiro and nearby shops. The owner was very attentive, breakfast was wonderful and the cakes were delicious. Eduarda helped us a lot with tips about Beto carreiro and other outings. We also went on a buggy tour, which was fantastic. Congratulations!

We loved it and would happily return. The pousada is peaceful and impeccably clean, and the owner is so friendly and kind. The beach is an easy walk away, with tours, a supermarket, and a pharmacy nearby too. Highly recommend, and until next time.
