Pousada Parque Central

For our goal of spending two days at the park and having somewhere clean to rest, PARQUE CENTRAL delivered everything we needed. It’s a simple place, but really well organized and clean. The location is quiet, on a dead-end street, and very close to the park, which was our main reason for coming. There’s no 24-hour reception, but everything went smoothly, so we didn’t need one. Tayná explained everything clearly over WhatsApp and was quick to answer my messages. The price was R$ 150 per night, and the service felt well matched to the cost, with more than we expected. If you want 24-hour room service and a high level of comfort, this isn’t the place. Panificadora Lupã is close enough to walk to, and I highly recommend it for breakfast or meals. I don’t recommend the pizzeria on the pousada’s corner. They offer a bit of everything but none of it was tasty, and it cost almost R$70 per person. Terrible.

Dona Sônia was very attentive, and the pousada is great value. It’s very close to Beto Carrero and near restaurants and little shops. I recommend it!

The standout for me was the service. When our car had a problem, the owner was incredibly kind to my family and helped us find a mechanic at just the right time. That kind of help is rare, and it made this the best part of our stay. The room was clean and had a microwave for late-night hunger, plus a minibar with fairly priced drinks, handy when you arrive late and shops are closed. Breakfast was delicious too. I'd give the service 10/10, better than at any other pousada I've stayed at in Penha, and I always recommend places with good service.

The next day I started itching all over. I saw a doctor and was diagnosed with scabies. The doctor thought I may have caught it at the pousada, perhaps from the mattress or sheets, since they had contact with much of my body and it spread quickly. The check-in and check-out arrangements were also deeply disrespectful to guests. I arrived with a tour group and there was nobody there to handle either. The key was left at the gate where anyone could get to it. After about 30 minutes, a man finally showed up, stayed out on the street to tell me the key was inside the room, then left. At checkout, there was nobody to be found, and at no point did anyone seem responsible for monitoring who came or went. I hate leaving a low rating, but I feel people should know. If they don't pay attention to guest service, I have to wonder about the cleaning too.
