You can walk to the Imperial Museum of Dom Pedro II and most of Petropolis's other historic sights from here. It's a basic hotel, but very clean, and the buffet breakfast is excellent and very cheap.

Keep in mind that this is a budget hotel. The location right downtown is excellent, the rooms are clean, the beds are fine, and the shower works well. Breakfast was better than I expected, so it ended up being great value for the money.

There's plenty to see in Petrópolis, including the São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral, Palácio/Hotel Quitandinha, and the Imperial Museum. Many sights are close together, so getting around the city center is easy. The town also has lots of places to eat, with options like Mexican and Italian food. For a good Mexican meal, Los Dos is a great pick. The local craft beer is worth a try too, especially Café Verde from Cervejaria Odin and Chocolate from Doutor Duranz. For more convenience and comfort, I'd look for a hotel or inn in a central area.
