Pousada Itararé

I’m extremely disappointed and feel the advertising was misleading. I booked two nights for my girlfriend and me, arriving on 13/03, but the room looked nothing like the photos I’d seen on the site. There was mold on the walls, the mattress was so bad I could feel the bed slats, and the room was cramped and dark. In a tiny area beside the bed, we could even hear upstairs toilets flushing through a pipe. I checked out because staying there wasn’t possible. It caused a lot of trouble: I had to find somewhere else in town at night, hungry and without dinner, missed plans with friends, and had to pay for additional nights and other costs at the new hotel. I want my two nights refunded and will take legal action. They never called to ask what happened, even though I tried reaching them by phone two or three times. I won’t recommend this place to anyone.

The location, breakfast, and parking were positives. But the room didn’t feel secure. That awful door was hard to open and close, and you could see inside through the gap. The wooden sliding bathroom door wasn’t secured at the bottom, so it wouldn’t stay shut and banged around, even in the middle of the night. There was no glass shower enclosure either. When we arrived, the corridor smelled like a sewer, and the odor came into the room, though it eventually went away. The room was bright and noisy, with all the traffic outside coming through, and unprotected windows that cast light onto the bed. Room 206 isn’t shown in the photos.

This place was awful, the room and kitchen both smelled like sewage. We paid for three nights but couldn’t take it and left after one. The room had no proper setup, the bathroom ceiling lining was falling down, the plumbing was exposed, the shower didn’t work, and the TV was broken. I don’t recommend staying here. It was the worst place I’ve ever stayed, and you’ll waste your money.

It’s inexpensive, has breakfast and parking, and is in a good location. Some rooms look better than others, so I’d choose one on an upper floor. We stayed in two first-floor rooms and had noise trouble. Traffic was one issue, and at 7 a.m. we were woken by people shouting while "talking" at reception.
