Pousada Ilha Feia

It was alright.

Terrible. I was embarrassed that I’d recommended this place to the couple traveling with us. It felt very “strange,” and the idea of what makes it a pousada was stranger still. We were given wrong information about the room and only found out once we arrived. They demanded full payment at the door before we’d even seen what we’d rented. We stayed three days as four people, but they didn’t clean the bathroom or even take out the trash. When I asked about it, they told me I could collect it myself and use the bucket, broom, and squeegee in the bathroom to wash the place. I came to rest during my time off and paid pousada rates, not to spend part of the day cleaning. The couple with us also said their blanket smelled like sweaty feet. When I booked, I thought the only drawback was that breakfast wasn’t provided because there was a kitchen. Imagine if I’d stayed a week. Would I have to book and cancel several separate stays just to get the place cleaned? It makes no sense. I chose their most expensive option, which cost more than better places in the area. I’m never coming back!

The location is great, and the service was cordial. The cabins and apartments have equipped kitchens, hammocks for relaxing, and private outdoor tables. There’s also a shared barbecue area stocked with kitchen utensils. Everything is simple, clean, and organized. I really liked it and will definitely return.

A really good, family-friendly place with nice touches in several areas. The staff were helpful and always available, and guests have plenty of freedom.
