Hotel Barroso

Loved it! Such a great place!

There’s no hair dryer, and the towels and sheets are very thin. The room did have air conditioning, a fan, and a tiny balcony, though getting onto it meant stepping over a slight level change. That felt dangerous to me, since one distracted step could send you over the edge of a third-floor balcony. Someone on my floor was smoking out there, so the whole floor smelled like cigarettes, and I didn’t see any no-smoking signs anywhere in the hotel. The walls are also very thin, so you hear people moving through the hall and in nearby rooms. Rooms go up to the third floor, with stairs only. They provide soap as the only amenity. It’s a very basic hotel, really just suited to spending one night.

The room was clean, and it was convenient that the hotel takes pets since we travel with our small companion. There’s parking, and breakfast is included. We arrived around 8 p.m. while traveling, and the man at reception was extremely polite and communicated really well. The hotel itself was fine, but breakfast was a letdown. The couscous was actually hard, the eggs were greasy, and the sausage sauce didn’t look very good. The only thing I could enjoy was the black coffee, which was delicious. I don’t think this should stop anyone from staying there, just don’t expect a big breakfast, since guests tend to have expectations about it. Maybe it was just the day I went, or perhaps hotel management needs to look again at quality control.

The service was good. The hotel is okay if all you need is somewhere to stop and sleep, but some rooms are on the fourth floor and getting there means climbing three or four flights of stairs.
