Pousada Cavalhadas

A wonderful town and a great place for tourists.

Friendly reception and a good location.

Top.

We were a family group of 15, including older adults, children, and a pregnant woman. The location made it easy to walk to the historic center, Rua do Lazer, churches, and restaurants. Staff were extremely friendly, and reception quickly handled problems, including the cleaning team's phone making noise early in the morning. But hygiene and maintenance need urgent attention. We found clumps of hair in the shower, a sticky floor, and such a strong mildew smell in some rooms that it triggered allergic reactions and we had to change rooms. There was also a persistent sewage odor in the corridors and the outdoor area at the back. Pillows smelled strongly of sweat, and shower pressure was very weak. The rooms weren't accessible, which made things difficult for our older relatives and the pregnant member of the group. On our last day, because a staff member was absent, we were told to have breakfast at a nearby bakery. Getting there meant tackling a tiring hill, so we had to drive the older adults and the pregnant woman. The bakery was packed and service was very slow, causing unnecessary hassle for a large group. The inn has a lot of potential thanks to its location and team, but poor maintenance and cleaning hurt the value for money. It's convenient for getting around, but people with allergies or limited mobility should check room conditions before booking. I'd encourage the owner to invest in mildew treatment, inspect the sewage system, and make a more considerate backup plan for breakfast. Future guests should confirm room ventilation if anyone in their group is sensitive.
