Hotel Modelo

The hotel itself is good, and I don't have anything else to complain about. But yesterday at 7 p.m., a young man at reception called to ask me to pay for the overnight stay before it was over. I felt offended and thought that was absurd. I don't know if he was Chinese or Japanese. Sometimes one employee really knows how to upset you.

The hotel is simple, so it won't suit anyone looking for above-average comfort. Still, the service was excellent. I was welcomed warmly and they took care of all my requests. Its location is a strong point, halfway between the city exit and downtown, so it was easy to head either way for outings. Breakfast is simple, but there's plenty of tasty food.

The location is great, and there's a free water dispenser. The infrastructure, though, is poor and everything feels old and neglected. Our bed was broken, the sink tap wouldn't shut off, the shower barely put out water, and the plastic shower screen was broken. The hotel needs an urgent renovation and a change in management to improve planning and customer service. Breakfast is good, but on Sundays tour buses arrive and they can't organize things for everyone. There aren't enough tables, cutlery, cups, black coffee, fruit, or cheese bread. The Wi-Fi is also unreliable, which is a problem if you need to work remotely. There's no accessibility, only stairs to the rooms and down to breakfast. If you come back at night, the entrance door is locked and its outside handle is broken, so you have to wait on the street for someone to answer.

Awful place, filthy dining area, and a terrible breakfast. To get scrambled eggs, you have to ask a woman who seems so unwilling to make them that it puts you off. Clean towels aren't available until after two or three days. The garage is tiny, and getting a car out could take dozens of maneuvers, so leaving it on the street is preferable. Everyone was very unwilling to help. STAY AWAY.
