Vila Real Hotel

Good morning. I've stayed with you for one night before and enjoyed it. I'd like to stay again the next time I visit the city, but I can't get in touch with the hotel.

The location is the only thing this hotel has going for it, and even then, when I finally got to sleep around 7 in the morning, someone from the city came by with a leaf blower and woke the whole square. The city itself is very nice, but this hotel made for a terrible stay. The mattress was awful, soft foam that swallowed me up until I felt lost in a hole, just wishing morning would come so I could get out of bed. The room was dirty. I had to go out and buy toothpaste and soap, ask for a toilet paper roll because it hadn't been replaced, and request fresh towels. They just hung the towels in the window. Breakfast was good, though.

I stayed at the hotel for work during 2023, one night a week. The room was simple and small, but had what I needed for a comfortable stay: a good bed, spotless bedding and bath towels, and excellent pillows in both high and low styles for resting or sleeping. The TV had basic channels, both open and paid, with sports, news, movies, and a kids' channel. Cleanliness and hygiene were outstanding. The shower has hot and cold water that you mix to get the temperature just right. Breakfast was complete enough for a small meal, with fresh juice and crispy pão de queijo. The location is a real plus. Step outside and you're in the heart of town, with Praça Pedro Sanches right across the street, like the hotel's backyard. It's one of the sights of beautiful Poços. There are lots of bars, cafés, and restaurants nearby, and Assis Figueiredo, the main central shopping street, is just one block away. The nightly price was very economical too. The team was friendly and helpful, and host Rafael surely has good tips for outings to make your stay memorable. All in all, I highly recommend it. Make yourself at home.

The location gets a 10, but the maintenance was awful. The room fan wasn't working, and the wooden floor in the room was very dirty and looked unswept. The hallway floor was badly stained too, giving the whole place a very dirty impression. The hotel may be old, but that doesn't excuse poor cleaning and lack of upkeep. It needs a thorough steam cleaning.
