The room was a tiny 4 M³ cubicle with a bed, a window, and a wall with damp damage. I couldn't bring myself to stay, and I wouldn't wish the place on my worst enemy. The building felt poorly maintained, dirty, and the people looked unfriendly. When I arrived, the receptionist seemed surprised I was staying and said, "It's a building for monthly tenants. Come here, I'll show you the room so you can see if you accept it." Please take “hostel” out of the name, since tourists could be misled by the already poor photos. In person, it was a million times worse. Be careful.

I stayed only one night because I had nowhere else to go, then managed to find somewhere different. The rooms were awful, dusty and dirty, and I had to sweep my own room just to sleep. The bathrooms looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in months, with the area beside the toilets nearly black. The outside looks tidy, but going in was a letdown. Everything was dirty and poorly kept, and the staff weren't welcoming and seemed annoyed when anyone complained. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I booked through Booking, where the listing said the shared rooms had air conditioning and breakfast. Neither was available when I arrived. I could have dealt with the missing breakfast, but air conditioning was essential: it was hot, the place was full of mosquitoes, and sleeping or resting was impossible. Even for just one night, it was terrible. I don't recommend it, despite the affordable price.

The place is nice-looking and new, but the bathrooms need better hygiene. I stayed in a shared room for a month, and the only reason the floor got swept and washed was that one of the hostel guests cleaned it every week. Nobody from the hostel ever did. I wouldn't return.

I really enjoyed my stay at Pousada Leopoldo bier. The staff are great, love to chat, and sort out any problems. The atmosphere is very welcoming, though staying at a pousada means learning to share space with other residents. Hospitality was excellent, and breakfast was provided every day, which I appreciated. I had to leave for work, but I'll definitely come back. Thanks for everything.
