I spent a week here over New Year's. It's a small, unpretentious place, and the staff made me feel at home right away. They also helped me find lots to love about their city.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the amenities were standard, nothing special. The building is dated, but the rooms would have been fine if I hadn't found bedbugs in the first one. I reported it as soon as I recognized them. They can be a real headache if they get into your backpack and turn up at home after your trip, which does happen. I booked at the last minute. It's 4 km from the bus station and about 3 km from Porto Alegre's historic center. A taxi is cheap, about 10 reais from the station, and walking into the center during the day can be nice, with a stop at Redencao Park and its market. Passable.
