Laghetto Moinhos

Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh ingredients and plenty of tasty choices. The rooftop pool sits beside the gym and a smoking area, though there was no ashtray. The hotel is in a safe, wealthy part of Porto Alegre, about 600 m from Moinhos de Vente city park. Staff were very nice and helpful, especially for those who don’t speak Portuguese. Special thanks to Patricia, Pedro & Jonatan. The rooms and corridors could have been a little cleaner. We were there on a busy weekend, though, and the hotel seemed fully booked. We’d recommend staying here.

The pool area is very nice, and the gym is decently equipped. The food was amazing, the room super comfortable, and the service was impressively kind. My favorite hotel in Porto Alegre, by far.

The location was great, and the reception staff were generally helpful and really nice. But the place felt badly managed and was a real disappointment. It doesn’t feel like a four-star hotel, perhaps two or three on a good day. Breakfast was boring over my five days, with no variation, and staff served themselves large plates while guests were still trying to get food. We upgraded to a suite because the regular rooms were small and uninspiring, but the suite was awful. It felt old and tired, and was generally unclean. The sofa and mattress were dirty. The sheets didn’t fit, so I woke up directly on the mattress; they were paper thin, and the pillows smelled bad. The bathroom smelled terrible throughout our five-day stay. Getting into the shower meant climbing over a brick wall, which was especially dangerous with a wet floor. There was shampoo and conditioner but no shower gel. The toilet roll dispensers were ridiculous and made you pull out about twice as much paper as a normal roll. I don’t recommend it and won’t be back.

We loved our stay, and it was amazing value. The location is amazing and the service was some of the best I’ve ever had in a hotel. Rooms are on the small side, and self-parking is difficult, so it’s better to leave the car with the valet.
