Novotel Porto Alegre Airport

Breakfast and dinner were both amazing, and Bruno B gave us superb service at the buffet. The hotel was spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Highly recommend!

The breakfast was good, the room was clean, the shower was fine, and you can walk to the airport. That's where the positives stop. We arrived after more than 20 hours of international flights at 1 a.m., and had picked this place because it was within walking distance. Take an Uber and stay somewhere better. Check in took painfully long. The clerk seemed to be juggling several windows and clicking through things for 10 minutes, even though I'd prepaid and checked in online hours earlier. For a hotel network this large, their IT setup seems like a mess. The bed was uncomfortable, and the bedding was too small. The sheet came right off because it was too short for the mattress. The AC thermostat has five buttons with no labels, and there was no guide in the room. I spent several minutes trying to work it out. I set a temperature, and it stayed on that setting, but the system just ran all or nothing instead of following it. In the morning the room was 17.5C, even though I'd set it to 21.5C. Now I've got a sore throat, thanks. There's no pedestrian entrance. You have to walk along the driveway, twist around to avoid the gate (cancela), then cross the parking lot to reach the main entrance. There's also no water fountain or free water. The only water for sale comes in ridiculously small, overpriced 350ml cans. Canned water, believe it or not, in a poor country! That's insane. Do they have any idea how much energy it takes to make aluminum, or what it costs the environment?

The room was spacious and clean, and check in was easy. Reception gave me a warm welcome. My biggest letdown was finding no coffee station and no water bottles in the room. The hotel should look into that. Otherwise, it's a lovely place, with a free shuttle to the airport.

The location and check in were good, but there's no complimentary water in the rooms, no safe, USB outlet, or ironing facility. Everything has to be purchased. The fridge was so noisy I had to turn it off. The rooms are quite dated, though I know they're being updated because hammering started around 0830. I was on the first floor and reception music played through the night. I was exhausted enough to sleep, but it was still playing at 0400 and 0630. Tonight I'll make a point of asking for it to be turned off. All in all, I don't recommend it.
