The pool was a lovely spot to unwind in the afternoon sun, and there’s a nice shared area with a TV. The kitchen is small, but has what you need to cook. Our double room was on the small side, though it was private, and the bathroom was fine too. The staff are friendly and helpful, and speak good English. You can walk to the historic centre in about 20 minutes; there’s a park and supermarket five minutes away, plus plenty of nearby bars and restaurants. Breakfast is the usual bread, jam, coffee and fruit. It could be better, but I had no complaints and it got the day started. Great hostel, highly recommended.

This is easily my favorite hostel in Porto Alegre. It was clean, and the staff were kind and considerate, which I didn’t find at some of the other hostels. I’d happily stay again and recommend it.

A solid choice if you need to stay downtown in Porto Alegre. The staff are friendly, and there’s a pool and vinyl records if that’s your thing. Just be aware the town can get cold in winter.

Since staying at Milhouse Hipo in Buenos Aires, I haven't found anywhere else like it. People in Brasil seem pretty miserable since I got here. I know there was the petrol strike, but this country has always had crises. Hopefully things improve over the next 3 weeks I'm here.
