Clara Lua Suites

The staff at pousada Maralua were very attentive, and the place was clean and pleasant. I liked it a lot, but two things bothered me. One evening after coming back from the beach, I went to shower and found there was no water. I tried calling the number they provided to report problems but got no help. We were left wondering if we'd have to go until the next day without water or a shower. It was awful. Also, nobody was at the pousada after 8 p.m. The gate and doors were left open, so anyone could get in. That didn't make us feel safe.

The photos look lovely, but the place itself was falling apart. Tiles were broken all over, the air conditioning and shower were broken, and the bedding and towels were filthy and stained. A lot of breakfast items were missing too. On paper it sounds like a great pousada. In reality, it was a horror show. Don't spend your money here!

The location is great, but the pousada felt neglected, as if guests were the least of anyone's concerns. The bathroom was covered in mold, and there seemed to be no supervision. The bathroom door handle came off in my hand. I reported it and they fixed it. There was no towel holder for a face towel, just a nail in its place. The coffee flask didn't work either. I reported that, and after that they stopped serving afternoon coffee. Breakfast was reasonable.

I really liked the pousada and would recommend it. The breakfast was very good, and the service was great. Bruna at reception is so friendly, and the housekeeper makes wonderful coffee. There are a few things that could be improved, but nothing that takes away from the place. The photos from the balcony came out beautiful.
