Pousada Carcara

Great!

We spent a weekend at Pousada Carcará and had a great time. It’s easy to reach and sits in a quiet area with little noise, a few meters from the beach and around 2 km from the center. Everything was clean, organized, and smelled fresh. The owners and staff were very friendly and willing to help with whatever we needed. The accommodations are simple but comfortable, and the internet is fast, with Wi-Fi throughout the inn. The pool was very nice and cleaned every day. Breakfast was well prepared each morning. There weren’t many choices, but everything tasted good.

We were welcomed nicely, but there wasn’t much flexibility during our stay. Breakfast was good, though when there were fewer guests, the amount and variety dropped a lot and food wasn’t replenished. The breakfast area is cozy, the pool is very good, the minibar was excellent and met our needs, and the air conditioning worked very well. There’s also a shared clothesline, and the staff were neutral. The cleanliness was below average. The bathroom smelled bad, the bathroom cloth wasn’t replaced and kept a strong odor, and the sheets were stained and weren’t changed. I woke up one night to a cockroach in the room. Towels weren’t changed daily and stayed damp. The owner was very friendly, but the owner’s wife was arrogant and provided very poor service. The shower gave an electric shock when switched on. The nearby beach isn’t suitable for swimming. Getting to a place where you can swim takes a walk of more than 20 minutes or an Uber. The TV only got three channels. For a short stay, it’s worth keeping these points in mind.

The location is good, the owner is very friendly, and breakfast is great. The room cleaning, though, left a lot to be desired. Towels weren’t changed daily, and my mother’s room smelled strongly of cigarettes. The other available room had a musty smell. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned every day, and in the last few days a strong sewer smell came from it and woke me several times during the night. It was impossible to sleep. They seemed to just run a cloth over the room, and it never had that clean smell.
