Pousada Cheiro do Mar

The quiet nights were a relief. I had worried the inn might be noisy or poorly located, but getting around on foot was easy, whether we were going to the market, tours, beach or town center. The staff were always so thoughtful. They got an extra mattress so my nephew could sleep more comfortably, fixed the air conditioning without us having to ask, and kept everything tidy every day with clean towels. Breakfast was very good and had plenty to choose from. Thank you for making our stay such a good part of the trip.

We stayed from 18/01 to 23/01/26. The breakfast was wonderful, and we were welcomed and treated very cordially. The apartment was simple but comfortable, with a refrigerator, microwave, blender, sandwich maker, thermal jug, air conditioning and TV, all working properly. The location was excellent and the cleaning was impeccable. Some of the towels were very old, though. I’d stay here again.

My week in Porto de Galinhas was enjoyable thanks to the location, but the inn itself was a mixed experience. The breakfast was delicious, with good quality and variety, and the staff were friendly and courteous every time we interacted with them. I’d rate the stay 2/5 because of the gap between the service and the condition of the rooms. There was a persistent, mild sewage smell in the room, apparently coming from the bathroom drain and sink. It reminded me of the odor in some parts of Rua das Sombrinhas. The room had no windows and a slight musty smell as well. The walls and ceiling clearly needed filling and repainting, and the furniture was quite worn. Daily cleaning was superficial. The blanket was pulled over the bed, but the rest of the bedding underneath was left untidy. Towels were changed three times during the week, but the used ones were left piled in the bathroom, and the bathroom sink wasn't cleaned during room service. The refrigerator started beeping continuously even though I only used it to chill water bottles. I turned it off and reported it at reception the next morning. I was told a technician would come the following day, but nothing was fixed, so I left it off and stopped using it. There was also a small renovation in our occupied room during the stay, which I found completely inappropriate. The TV mount was moved from beside the bed to another spot, and parts of the wall were broken open, patched and repainted for the change. When we came back from an outing, the work was finished, but our table and bags were covered in dust and construction debris. The inn has real potential, especially with its breakfast and kind staff. But the rooms need urgent investment to address the sewage odor, mold and worn condition. The unresolved refrigerator issue and the decision to do work in a room with guests show that maintenance management and consideration for guest comfort need to improve.

The staff were great, very attentive and kind, and the place was clean and organized. Its location is excellent and it’s quiet, too. Still, the entrance felt a bit odd, and the mold smell was a real problem for me as I’m allergic to mold. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. I also would have felt safer if there were bars on the upstairs windows, since the rear windows overlook some tall houses that someone could climb.
