Pousada Maanaim Porto

The staff were helpful and polite, the breakfast was excellent, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The shower was especially good. It’s very close to the center of Porto, and on our last day reception let us come in early for breakfast because we had to leave very early for the airport transfer. I only have two notes. The sheets were quite stained, and the gray blanket looked and smelled as if it hadn’t been washed. We left the key for cleaning every day, but the linens weren’t changed. The pool also needs more attention when it comes to cleaning. Aside from that, I’d gladly return. Thanks for being so welcoming and helpful.

The room was extremely cramped for three people. Two slept in the bed and one on a mattress on the floor. The spare blanket smelled strongly of alcohol, as if a lot had been sprayed on it, and it wasn’t pleasant. The bathroom’s hot and cold water both worked properly, and the AC and TV were fine. The TV showed local news, which was nice. I liked the staff, and the pool has set hours. Breakfast is included, but there’s no restaurant for lunch or dinner. The inn is very close to the village of Porto, which has lots of food options. Porto de Galinhas beach is about a 10-minute walk away, and you can take an Uber to other beaches that aren’t far.

The best part was the location. Our ground-floor room had no windows, and with the kitchen right next door we could hear dishes clattering and people talking early in the morning as they prepared breakfast. By 7 a.m. it was already a racket. Service was so-so. At breakfast they kept coming over to clear plates and glasses while we were still using them, and we felt rushed. We only used the very small pool once because it was either crowded or being maintained.

We didn’t have much luck with this stay. Our room was beside the dining room, so we woke up very early every day because of the noise. The bathroom had a very dirty curtain instead of a shower enclosure, and the siphon was leaking. The Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room, and they took a long time to reply on WhatsApp. Breakfast was quite simple with few choices. The reception service was good, though, and the place itself felt cozy.
