Pousada Porto Henrris

The location was a real plus: one street from Porto beach and about seven minutes from the center. Bruno, the owner, was kind and helpful throughout our seven-day stay, gave us beach trip tips, and treated us with real courtesy. We came through a travel agency and arrived before check-in at 2 p.m.; they let us leave our bags and use the pool-area bathroom to change. Cleanliness was the main problem. That bathroom was dirty, with urine on the floor and no paper. Our room was ready at check-in, but the furniture was dusty and there was a lot of grime around the sink and shower. The sink was clogged, though they fixed it when I asked. The towels were small and thin, and the bedding wasn't great either. The blanket looked far from clean. Sheets were changed every three days and towels every two, but one towel change was missed, and the second set of sheets had a blood stain. Breakfast was tasty, especially the filled tapioca and cuscuz, but it was almost the same food every day and got repetitive. The staff were pleasant and gentle. The inn is simple, which is fine, but a deep clean of the rooms and shared areas would make a big difference. The dusty, strong-smelling hammocks need washing too. If blankets can't be washed between guests, duvet covers that can be changed would help. Also, the busy road next door is noisy, so anyone sensitive to that should ask for a room on the right side of the pool. I'd come back if the cleaning improved.
