Vila de Maré Hotel

The location is good, but I had a terrible experience with the service and the hotel itself. Staff were rude and would come at us when we complained about something. The room was rarely cleaned unless we kept asking, and there was no support when we needed help. At check-in, they told us to leave our bags in the dining area because entry wasn’t allowed until 4 pm. The bathroom was awful: tiny, barely enough room for one person, and nowhere to hang towels or clothes. The air conditioning kept turning itself on and off. Breakfast was very basic every day, and the cutlery was dirty, with even lipstick marks on it. If you’re going to Porto de Galinhas, the city is incredible, but I’d stay somewhere else. This hotel’s service and facilities made for a horrible experience and could ruin your holiday and rest.

The location is a real highlight: a few blocks from the main beach and where the evening walk along the main street begins, but far enough from the nighttime noise. Management provided excellent service, breakfast was plentiful, and whenever we requested room cleaning it was done without any issue. We rented two rooms. The double was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony. The triple room felt cramped, with little room to move, and had no bedside tables. Its blackout curtains didn’t work properly, even after we asked to have them fixed, though the bathroom was very nice. It’s a good choice if you want a great location, a decent room, and a complete breakfast. Just don’t expect anything exceptional.

The location couldn’t be better. I’d been a little nervous after reading Google reviews, since I booked through Despegar, where the hotel has a good rating, but my six-night stay was free of complaints. Staff were attentive and treated me well, the hotel served its purpose, and breakfast was standard but good. The pool was always clean, and the common areas were cleaned regularly. I also saw pest control teams going through rooms and new mattresses being brought in. The only small annoyance was at checkout: there’s no luggage storage area, so they let me leave my bags in the breakfast area.

I’d read some negative reviews and felt a bit unsure before arriving, but my stay at Hotel Vila de Mar was very positive. We had no issues at all. The room was clean and organized, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and whenever we needed cleaning or fresh towels, staff helped us without difficulty. The location is practically unbeatable, one of the closest hotels to central Porto de Galinhas. We could get around on foot, which made everything easier. Some guests did speak loudly in the corridors at times, especially near breakfast, but that comes down to guests being considerate rather than the hotel itself. We had a great stay and would happily return.
