Portobello Praia

It's a very nice, spacious place with everything you need on site, and the beach is only a few minutes' walk away. Our AC leaked water, which seemed to come from poor management and staff not checking rooms before guests arrived.

The price was low enough that it still felt like decent value, especially for families who'll enjoy the pool area. The hotel looks after that lovely space, and taking guest feedback seriously and maintaining the rest of the property could make this a great place to stay. The pool area itself was beautiful and clean, with two huge pools and a smaller one that's perfect for kids. Our room was clean and the AC worked. There was no soap or shampoo when we arrived, but reception gave us some right away. Reception was okay and helpful, though only one person spoke Spanish and nobody spoke English. Service at the restaurant and bar was awful at times, with unfriendly staff who were slow and seemed unmotivated. Some parts were fairly clean, including the rooms, pool area, and restaurant, but the garden, tennis court, gym, and a few areas on the second floors badly needed maintenance. There were construction materials on the tennis court. The music by the pool was too loud for us.

We liked it and would consider coming back with friends or family. Prices were reasonable, and the rooms were comfortable with all the essentials. The building feels a little dated, but the shared area is great fun, with a huge pool and a bar you can reach from the water. The location is excellent, close to everything: Club Ache Moi, restaurants, a pharmacy, a pizzeria, and a supermarket.

We had a great stay and the place was well situated, with everything we needed. The hall noise carried loudly into the room, and there were no bedside lights. It could use some upkeep too, a fresh coat of paint here and there would make a big difference.
