The room had an unpleasant smell, which might be fixed with a better cleaning product. Still, for the price, it worked well for me and my girlfriend since we like simple places. The location is excellent, close to downtown and Passarela do Descobrimento. Whenever we asked reception or the breakfast staff for something, they were attentive and helpful, whether it was information, a pillow change, or keeping the breakfast tables clean.

Our family stayed in three different rooms, and the trip fell apart after my mother-in-law and her underage granddaughter were robbed while asleep in room 5 at 4:00AM on 30/11/25. Two phones and a bag with documents and cards were taken. Reception was dismissive and wouldn’t tell us when management would arrive, and nothing has been resolved so far. Afterward, the air-conditioning worker came to my room looking for my mother-in-law, said her granddaughter was asleep in room 5 and that he hadn’t seen her there, then opened my room 31 door without permission. I called my mother-in-law right away; she was on the balcony and hadn’t seen him enter her room either. The hotel also flooded. Clean bedding came in bags, but the blankets and pillows were dirty. Breakfast had variety, though cutlery was often missing or in short supply. The bar attendant was on the phone all the time, and there was no ice for a caipirinha. My mother-in-law was left without her documents, money, or phone, and her granddaughter had lost her phone too.

The one real advantage was the location: you can walk to Passarela, and there are affordable Ubers and buses, which helps around the busy year-end period when transport is difficult. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend this place. The room was awful. Cockroaches came in under the door, the mattress was smaller than its bed frame, and the shower enclosure covered only half the area. There was mold on the floor and walls. The TV only had two channels, the supposedly white towels weren’t white, and the sheets were dirty and torn. On our first day, nobody had cleaned the room; they’d just poured bleach, and the strong smell made us feel sick. We needed a blood pressure monitor and thermometer twice, but the hotel had neither. We asked for a blanket and got one, then were told there weren’t any more, so bring your own. Breakfast was poor too. The chocolate drink was the cheapest kind, and the rest was very basic: bread, cheese sometimes, milk sometimes, and occasionally coffee. The sandwich press for warming bread was extremely dirty.

The staff are the only ones who seemed to be doing what they could. There’s a musty smell in the wardrobe, and the TV only gets Globo on three channels, with a bad signal. The pool looks beautiful but doesn’t in person, and the bar doesn’t stay open until a reasonable time. Breakfast was repetitive and bland. The automatic garage gate was broken, so we had to get out to open it, or it was left open for anyone to enter. There were broken things and rubbish throughout the hotel, and we saw a possum on the roof. With children, I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s right by the street. The hotel was recently acquired by the chain and still has a lot to fix. I don’t recommend it.
