O Caramuru Hostel

Gabriel, the employee, was extremely proactive, kind, polite, and attentive when he welcomed my family and me. We were looking for a place at the last minute, and even though I told him not to worry, he did everything he could to make us comfortable, including arranging bed linens and what else we needed. I felt he was wasted in that role. Still, after a few nights, the overall stay was disappointing. The bathroom smelled strongly of urine during both nights and seemed poorly cleaned. I didn't complain at the time because Gabriel had been so hospitable and we'd booked at the last minute, but the smell made the whole stay uncomfortable. The water supply failed the night before we left. My husband had to take a cold shower, and the problem still hadn't been fixed by the next morning, so we left without being able to shower. The worst discomfort came on our departure morning. At breakfast, the owner started a political conversation in front of guests and seemed to be provoking people. It was very unpleasant. We were there on vacation and didn't care about anyone's political party. My family and I are peaceful people, but guests have different backgrounds and opinions. I think the owner should reconsider her approach, since political remarks aimed at guests can cause needless embarrassment and conflict. Just a suggestion.

An excellent hostel, very clean and organized. The host is courteous.

A quiet spot close to downtown. We stayed in a clean, airy double room with air conditioning and a hammock on the balcony. The mattress felt a little firm, but it was still great value. Breakfast had cakes, bread, juices, and other options.

Booking made a mess of my reservation and didn't complete the purchase. The owner of the guesthouse was incredibly professional and sweet, though, and our stay was great. The place is comfortable and near the center.
