Apraiana Hostel

I had a nice time at Apraiana. The people there are so kind. I hope I can come back one day.

The place has potential and looks nice, but the lack of cleanliness ruined the stay. The pool area was filthy, with what looked like cream or other dirt built up. The kitchen was in poor shape too, with cutlery that still had food on it and a strong rancid smell. The bathrooms smelled of sewage and had drains full of hair. The whole place was extremely dirty and had an unusually strong odor. The mattresses smelled like human urine, which was unbearable. I brought a blanket and had to leave it there because the smell had soaked into it. We knew that, for the price, this wasn't going to be a five-star place, but basic hygiene is the least you should expect anywhere you stay. Given how many guests the pousada gets, they should be able to invest in proper cleaning. I wouldn't recommend it even for animals. There was also no respect or transparency from the hosts from the start. When we booked, we were told that my friends and I would be in the PRIME room. When we arrived, Bárbara said there had been a mistake and that we'd stay in another room just for that night, then move the next day. But the next day there was no conversation or explanation. We were simply ignored. The physical space could be nice, but the hygiene makes the whole experience awful. Be careful about possible misleading advertising too, because the listing photos don't match what we found.

After a tiring trip, we found there was no water. I had to go to bed without showering, even after using the bathroom for a number two. It was embarrassing and unacceptable. We also arrived in the middle of the night and nobody was there to welcome us or explain basics like the Wi-Fi password, opening hours, or anything about the pousada. The bed I slept in on the first night made me itch. One friend had a blocked nose, and another said the sheet smelled bad. We'd booked a room with a private bathroom, but that wasn't provided, so we had to use one outside the room. After several complaints, they moved us to another room the next day, and things got only a little better. The pool and kitchen looked dirty, the pousada door was left open and compromised security, and there was no proper care for guests or regular room cleaning. Without a doubt, it was the worst stay I've ever had.

The pousada is in a good location and could be a great place to stay if the conditions were right. This was my second time there, and I was disappointed. My first stay was good, but this time the room was awful and the sheets smelled bad. We spent five days there, and our room was never cleaned. The person in charge was rude to guests. Other guests also had negative things to say the next day. There was no water when we arrived, so we went to bed without showering, and there wasn't any drinking water either. Nobody was there to receive us. A man just opened the door, pointed out our room, and left, with no one around to give information or help. Honestly, this shouldn't be offered as accommodation. I hope the owners start treating guests with more respect.
