The Place Pousada e Hostel

Marcos is such a kind person and does whatever he can to help everyone. I felt comfortable there, and everything else was wonderful. The only hard part for me was dealing with the stairs.

The location is excellent, but there's a lot that needs work. I was in suite 5, and the sheets were old, dingy, and a little frayed. The air conditioner only worked when it felt like it. The bathroom needs maintenance and a lower step, and it could have been cleaned better. There was mold on the ceiling, and barely any water came from the shower. When we were leaving, we couldn't find anyone at reception despite looking and calling for a long time. We left the key on the counter, called the dogs in, and had to go because we had a commitment to get to on time. At R$170 for a hostel night with no breakfast, I expected much more. I'm a tour guide, and the things I mentioned can attract or put off guests. Better service could make this a better option for the area. I wouldn't return.

I stayed in room 4. It was very basic, with old, stained sheets, and the room hadn't been cleaned. There was underwear that seemed to belong to a previous guest. I only found out after paying that we couldn't use the balcony, which was disappointing. There were also two pit bulls loose in the reception area.

I've been staying here for a few days and have been treated really well from check-in through today. The staff are excellent, and the place has a pleasant feel, with people who are cheerful and ready to help. Honestly, I feel at home. They deserve the praise.
