Américas Copacabana Hotel

The location is the only good thing about this hotel. At check-in, we were told another person could stay with us. Four days later, with just two nights left, they demanded $530 for that person. They called the cops after trying to hold our belongings hostage, but the officers couldn’t do anything and left annoyed. The toilet also stopped working. We complained every day and nothing was done, so we had to go from the eighth floor down to the lobby restroom each time. The ceiling was leaking and moldy too. The people here are lazy and lie. Do not stay here!

The staff were kind and friendly, and the hotel was very well maintained. Daniella in particular kept up a vibrant energy and helped us throughout, making everything smooth and enjoyable. The hotel is nicely situated near the beach, with lots of restaurants and activities around. We really enjoyed our stay at Americas hotel and would definitely come back.

For a mid-level budget hotel in Copacabana, it does the job, and the generous breakfast and good service were positives. It’s friendlier on the budget than most nearby hotels, but there are compromises. We stayed in a standard room where the coffee machine didn’t work and the door had a laceration. The pool water was green and needed a proper clean. The hotel needs a substantial upgrade and cleaning to be more than three stars. Replying to the hotel’s comment: my username is exactly the same as the reservation from 27/12/2025. That response tries to discredit the negative part of my review, but it makes no sense.

Being only about three blocks from the beach was a big plus, especially since I was there for New Year’s. Alexandre checked me in and was such a pleasure to talk with. I was always happy to see him coming and going. I left my jacket in the back of a fuber (fake uber), but Daniela helped the day after my stay and confirmed it had been returned. She was very sweet, helped me check out, and stored my bag when I wanted to leave my things before my flight. I had a great time staying here!
