The 360-degree views are breathtaking, with several spots to take in RdJ below and get your bearings. Getting up there is straightforward once you arrive: you come off the train on a steep slope, then can reach the viewing area by stairs, elevator, or escalator. The crowds are another story, with selfie sticks everywhere and people striking poses that imitate the statue. Plan ahead and try to go early. We couldn’t get the website or app to sell us tickets, so we went in person and found a line stretching up the block. The app finally worked while we were there, and we booked for the following day. Even with tickets, you queue inside a holding area that also has a gift shop and photo booth. On a hot day, bring a full bottle of water: there’s little airflow or AC, and the clear awning makes the wait for the train feel even hotter.
